Research Portal

01 / Overview

The Research Portal project was designed to serve as a comprehensive platform for our clients, enabling them to compile and manage watchlists of securities for analysis and oversight. This tool was aimed at providing an extensive array of data on each security, including real-time prices, historical data, statistical analysis, relevant documents, performance metrics, and geographic breakdowns, thereby offering a rich resource for informed decision-making. This project stands as a testament to our commitment to providing advanced, secure, and user-centered digital solutions for the financial research sector.

  • Frontend: Built with Nuxt and Vue for the frontend, and utilising Tailwind for styling, the portal was developed with a focus on creating a user-friendly and visually appealing interface. Our integration of the Storybook project facilitated a consistent and modular design system, enhancing the development process.

  • Backend: The adoption of server-side rendering techniques improved the portal's SEO capabilities, ensuring wider visibility and accessibility. Connectivity to a Kotlin backend API was established to efficiently retrieve all necessary data related to securities and user-created watchlists.

  • Data: The portal's data visualisation capabilities, including charts, graphs, and data tables, were meticulously designed to offer insightful and accessible data representations, enhancing the decision-making process for our clients and their advisors

  • Authentication: Keycloak was implemented for authentication, securing user access and personalization of the portal.

02 / Problem

Asurafin's clients needed somewhere to build watchlists of securities and dig into prices, history, statistics, documents, performance and geographic breakdowns for each one.

03 / Decisions

I built it on the shared Storybook component library, which kept the portal consistent with Asurafin's other products and left more time for the data-heavy screens.

04 / Outcome

Clients build watchlists and explore data visualisations for each security in a server-rendered Nuxt portal, backed by a Kotlin API and secured with Keycloak.
